Create art about love and layered emotions through mixed media, in anticipation of Valentine’s Day. Solo creators, friends, or couples are all invited to explore visual metaphors of love with the tactile processes of cutting, pasting, and painting with watercolors and acrylics. We will work with both dry and wet mixed media approaches on paper and panels to play, experiment, and refine techniques of combining collage and painting. Try out our handmade watercolors and Flashe, a

matte, opaque, water-based paint with extra vibrant tones.

All skills levels are welcome. Materials are included, and participants are encouraged to bring their own collage materials to add to the mix.

Suzanne Sbarge is an Albuquerque based artist who has been working with layering collage and paint for over 30 years. She received a BA in Art History and Studio Arts from Barnard College and an MA in Art Education from UNM. She also studied at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts (Toulouse, France), Syracuse University (Florence, Italy), and The Art Students’ League (NYC) among others, and has attended Vermont Studio Center, Anderson Ranch (CO), Penland School of Crafts (NC), and the Obracadobra Artist Residency (Oaxaca, MX). In addition to her own work, Suzanne has worn many

hats in the art world including museum director, curator, graphic designer, and arts consultant.
