Come celebrate the Summer solstice at LDBA! You’ll play with the creative possibilities of your very own botanical images, experiment with simple pigment-making from flowers and leaves, and end with your own field guides to the natural world in watercolor and words in the beautiful sun-lit atelier of LDBA!
Surrounded by the gorgeous plants growing in our studio and freshly picked summer wildflowers from the mountains and high deserts of Northern New Mexico, Deborah will guide you in close observation and watercolor technique. Together we’ll study the many colors within the flowersand foliage around us, their forms and structures, their pigment and medicinal and healing possibilities as you consider your own singular vision to recreate what you see as dynamic spirited images in water, color, drawing and words. You’ll leave this very fun three-hour workshop closer to the natural world, having learned ways to protect it with your attention. You’ll leave with a few cuttings to grow your own plants along withstunning watercolor pictures and a your own handmade field notes zine of your experience. This will be a very special one and we can’t wait for you to join us!No experience necessary just a willingness to play and learn! All materials provided and all skill levels welcome!
