"Story Lines"- mixed media abstraction with Elizabeth Wiseman 4/10/26
Collaborate with your canvas and give voice to the stories that want to be told.
Join us in the beautiful LDBA Studio for a FRIDAY afternoon class to explore what a true conversation between your mind, your paint, and your canvas can reveal!
Sometimes a particular gesture or mark on the canvas sets something in motion that we don’t intend, but can lead to an unexpected discovery, if we allow it. This workshop is an opportunity to explore uncharted territory and mediums by simply following the path of least resistance. Mistakes can be your inspiration! Learn to let go of preconceived ideas and find the flow of unleashed creative energy.
Elizabeth will guide you in identifying your own hidden story lines and help you coax them into the light. This process can expand your range and style, and can also kick-start those feeling stuck or searching for a new direction.
We will begin with a quiet internal check-in followed by random mark-making. This will ease us into the creative space and start the conversation. Like any good conversation, there will be pauses, reflection, and moments of deep listening followed by response.
By the end of our 4 hours together you’ll have experienced a lovely collaboration of energies, and you’ll have a piece of art whose story lines might surprise you.
LDBA’s gorgeous handmade watercolors, soft pastels, colored pencils, and our Flashe paints will be provided, as well as a variety of substrates. Feel free to bring your own acrylics or other favorite water-based mediums to mix and match. Be ready for a fun, relaxed, and freeing experience that will leave you inspired and energized.
