Painted Gardens: A Watercolor Picture-Making Workshop with Deborah Stein 6/1/25

Painted Gardens: A Watercolor Picture-Making Workshop with Deborah Stein 6/1/25

$185.00

Gardens are places of delight for me. From seeds and buds in Spring to full color flowers and plants in summer and fall, gardens wake up the senses with beauty, sounds, olfactory delights. They are places of enjoyment, peace, contentment. My love of painting imagined gardens is influenced by my own garden and the things I grow and gardens throughout time and around the world. Every seed creates the world.

In this quiet morning workshop, we’ll explore all the elements of a garden in watercolor: the dirt and the stones, the flowers, herbs, trees, the creatures that visit such as songbirds and rabbits, insects and humans, and of course the water that makes it all grow. Then we’ll put our elements together to create and construct gorgeous pictures of our own imagined gardens using the beautiful handmade watercolors of LDBA. We'll examine gardens and paintings through history as well to inspire you and construct pretend gardens with flowers and other models on the table, consider color, and practice the washy watery techniques I love to use to create your very own imagined garden pictures.

No experience necessary but feel free to bring your favorite garden pictures or paint brush!
