The high desert is full of surprising color: the cool glow of distant mesas, brilliant skies, and subtle shifts of light across the landscape. In this 3-hour workshop, we’ll take a closer look at how color works and how we can use it to create light, depth, atmosphere, and feeling in a painting.

Through demonstrations, observation, and guided exercises, we’ll explore value, temperature, complementary colors, and intensity. We’ll experiment with unexpected color relationships and discover how small shifts can transform a painting.

This workshop is about learning to see the landscape in a new way. No previous experience with color theory is necessary! 

All skill levels are encouraged to attend, and all materials provided.

Sean Hudson is an Albuquerque based painter with a great love and curiosity for art and its ability to transform our perception of the world. He’s a working studio artist and a passionate teacher with a particular aptitude for encouraging and inspiring personal narratives and unique styles at all levels in the artistic path.
