Color Shift Watercolors from Japan

Color Shift Watercolors from Japan
Introducing: VERY limited edition Color-Shifting watercolors from Japan! These iridescent paints are next level- they paint very delicate, like a wisp of color on a butterfly wing, and then shift to a different, more vibrant color when you move or the light changes. It is subtle on white paper, and it really pops on black paper! This paint layers beautifully and when painted on top of other colors, shifts those colors as well.
Our dearest Heather Batts traveled to Japan in November and scooped up this incredible pigment for us to play with. Our expert paint maker, Zoe Chressanthis, mixed it with our watercolor medium to create this magical paint.
We have a limited run of 4 colors available for online orders:
Scarab Red- true to the beetle it’s named after, it appears red when you start to paint, but as soon as you change your light position, it shifts to green like magic!
Pearl Blue- this color paints blue, like a shimmery blue butterfly, but then in the light, it shifts to gold.
Amethyst Dream- this color paints buttery yellow, until you see in the light it is pure amethyst purple
Flamenco Blue- this color goes on like shimmery pearl and then shifts to iridescent blue in the light.
