Join us to paint the high desert landscape en plein air. We will explore painting and drawing fundamentals in watercolor at various outdoor sites along Canyon Road. Topics include color theory, composition, technique, and style. You will become familiar and confident with watercolor and find joy in painting outside.

All skill levels are encouraged to attend.

Plein air painter Sean Hudson is an Albuquerque based creative professional with a great love and curiosity for art and its ability to transform our perception of the world. He’s a working studio artist and a passionate teacher with a particular aptitude for encouraging and inspiring personal narratives and unique styles at all levels in the artistic path. He holds a MFA in studio art from the University of New Mexico and a BFA in painting and drawing from the Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design.

Materials:
- Sketchbook and pencil
- Watercolor paper block 5x7, 6x9, or 10x12
- LDBA High Desert Watercolor Palette, brushes, 2 containers for water
(students will be provided with water containers + brushes. High Desert watercolor set, travel brushes and watercolor paper blocks available for purchase with class discount.)

Suggested Materials:
- Something to sit on or stand at while painting (a folding chair, an easel, etc. LDBA has folding chairs we can provide.)
- Sun protection (sun hat, sun screen, long sleeves, pants, closed toed shoes)
- Drinking water & snacks
