Watercolor & The Desert at Night with Deborah Stein 6/14
What stirs in the night in the desert? Join us and Deborah Stein as we stir up and paint the Northern New Mexico desert on a summertime night: the trillion stars and strawberry moon, the shimmering light and infinite space. We’ll create real and imagined compositions of mountain, arroyo, road, and river and draw and abstract all the alive things that lurk, sleep, dream, bloom and grow in the beautiful nighttime deserts of Northern New Mexico.
You’ll get to enjoy the many ways of creating the glow of moonlight and the many ways to depict stars glittering in the dark as we explore the beauty, subtleties and differences of LDBA’s sparkling metallic, glow-in-the-dark and fluorescent paint lines with Deborah's Quiet Night Palette. With fun prompts and new watercolor techniques and we’ll also try new approaches to picture-making mixing watercolor with gouache, graphite and soluble color pencils to make your inspired nighttime scenes and painted stories.
All skill levels welcome and materials provided but feel free to bring your favorite paintbrush!
