We’ll play with watercolor, pencil, ink and glue to make cut paper collaged cards and Victorian Puzzle Purses.  We’ll play games with color mixing, learn some magical watercolor lettering techniques, and play with paper-cutting and collage to create fun amazing cards to explore ideas about love, gratitude and creativity. 

In this playful and freeing workshop, we'll spend a Friday afternoon in the beautiful sunny atelier of LDBA using fresh flowers as our models! We’ll sip tea or wine and converse about the Victorian language of flowers, look at William Morris and Art Nouveau era designs and the flowers around us to inspire you to create your very own colorful motifs, borders and beautiful designs using the gorgeous handmade colors of LDBA. 
I’ll show you how to fold Paper Puzzle Purses as well, an art form from the Victorian era to make really beautiful gifts to express love and gratitude for yourself or someone else you love or admire. You’ll leave with a gorgeous card and a gift you've made yourself.

All materials provided and no experience necessary (just come ready for fun!)

Deborah Stein lives, paints and writes in NYC and the Embudo Valley in New Mexico. She teaches visual narrative workshops, runs twice a year artist residencies. Deborah studied the passing on of traditional arts with a toymaker family in Northern India, worked with NYC school kids as a museum educator at the Museum of Arts & Design and has traveled and taught alternative arts education workshops about seeing and translating the world in new ways for adults and children for a lifetime.
