Get creative with holiday gifts this year by making one-of-a-kind small works using collage and painting on panels. In this workshop, we will tap into the rich history of collage and learn about contemporary collage practices. Be prepared to play, experiment, and follow your imagination.

We will use Flashe (made by LeFranc Bourgeois), a matte, opaque, water-based paint with extra vibrant tones, and collage materials spanning vintage imagery to the modern ephemera.

Explore diverse styles and directions from narrative to abstract while making personalized holiday gifts.

All skills levels are welcome. Materials are included, and participants are encouraged to bring their own collage materials to add to the mix. (No glossy magazines. Matte paper and color or black & white copies work well).

Suzanne Sbarge is an Albuquerque based artist who has been working with layering collage and paint for over 30 years. She received a BA in Art History and Studio Arts from Barnard College and an MA in Art Education from UNM. She also studied at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts (Toulouse, France), Syracuse University (Florence, Italy), and The Art Students’ League (NYC) among others, and has

attended Vermont Studio Center, Anderson Ranch (CO), Penland School of Crafts (NC), and the Obracadobra Artist Residency (Oaxaca, MX).
