Painting the Trees We Love in Watercolor with Jim Doyle 11/29/26

$190.00

This workshop provides participants with a clear and simple process for painting iconic Aspen trees of the Rocky Mountain region while fostering artistic exploration, mindfulness, and foundational techniques. Participants enjoy a supportive environment where painters of levels of experience are welcome . All materials are provided to create at least one finished painting to take home.

Aspen trees in the southern Rockies are a classic subject for many painters and photographers. Jim has been making annual spring and fall visits to our Aspen groves in the Sangre de Cristos for 30 years. It is a tradition of beauty, solitude, and crisp mountain air. The workshop leads participants through an easy process that concentrates on the feeling of the trees in their mountain setting, not on trying to replicate a literal image. As we execute the process we will also learn about the unique behavior of various LDBA pigments, especially those reflecting the energy of our New Mexican skies, landscapes and forests.
