In this 4 hour workshop, we will learn the fundamentals of 4 types of natural dyes. Using Cochineal, Avocados, Madder and fresh and dried flowers, we will play with and create hues of reds and pinks, in perfect timing with springtime.
We will follow some techniques in the wonderful book “The Modern Natural Dyer” by Kristine Vejar with photos by Sara Remington (shown above and sold in our store)- as well as bundle dyeing techniques and vat experiments of our own. We will dye a selection of natural materials including silks, wool, cotton and linen.
