Join us for a very special watercolor workshop in celebration of our newest exhibition opening August 15th, I Am Just A Visitor, a two-person show by artists and beloved LDBA educators Sean Hudson and Deborah Stein!

The day will begin with a private tour of the opening presented by Deborah and Sean, an in depth look into their inspiration, processes and techniques to inspire you for the afternoon’s workshops. 

Next, participants will be split into two groupings*: one will go with Deborah into our atelier and the other will follow Sean into the courtyard classroom. They’ll each present you with a demonstration of their unique techniques and philosophies for exploring watercolor as a medium followed by an amazing  guided project based on their works for the show. 

After a short break with refreshments in the gallery, you’ll switch classrooms! In this way each group will get to work with both artists and at the end, Deb and Sean will leave time to share and see one another’s work, talk about the day’s ideas and toast with a celebratory drink to end this incredible once in a lifetime workshop.

These workshops are exploratory, combining watercolor technique and intentional art-making. You’ll get a glimpse into Sean and Deborah’s minds and flow and learn how to take watercolor to a new level of artistry for your own practice and curiosity. 

This will be the only workshop of its kind with Sean and Deborah this summer!

Deborah Stein lives, paints and writes in the Embudo Valley in New Mexico and sometimes in New York City. She studied the passing on of art traditions with a family of toymakers in Northern India, worked with NYC school kids as a museum educator at the Museum of Arts & Design and has traveled and taught alternative arts education workshops about seeing and translating the world in new ways for adults and children for a lifetime

Sean Hudson is an Albuquerque based painter with a great love and curiosity for art and its ability to transform our perception of the world. He’s a working studio artist and a passionate teacher with a particular aptitude for encouraging and inspiring personal narratives and unique styles at all levels in the artistic path.
