Spring Wild Edible Walk + Tasting + Water color workshop

Leap into spring and join our first foraging walk followed by a tasting of the natural edible bounty and tea pairing by Tay Tea.

In collaboration with the Boy Scouts of America, we will walk their pristinely protected land in Tusten, NY along the Delaware River. Nathaniel Whitmore, local naturalist/herbalist/alchemist, and TaraMarie Perri, founder/director of Perri Institute for Mind and Body, will be our guides. Each step along the way will be illuminated by the senses as we dive deeper into nature.

The post-walk tasting and tea will be hosted at Smokey Belles Catskills Le Petite Cabine in Narrowsburg, NY.  We will gather at the charming and rustic woodland retreat overlooking a trout stream and learn how to clean, taste, and process our seasonal field foraging.

Artist Sara Moffat of LDBA Brooklyn will provide artist’s field supplies and share the naturalist’s way to document, draw, and watercolor the botanicals we find.

Takeaway: take home your foraged bounty, your own original botanicals watercolors, and Fish & Bicycle field notebook (5”x3.5”) filled out with your observations to inspire future walks.

RSVP: Space and supplies are limited!

  • Details will be provided via the confirmation of reservation email (i.e. what to wear, what to bring, etc.)
  • Exact start location will be revealed few days prior to the walk.

Hey friends, please join us for a very special event. On April 22nd and 23rd, we are headed upstate for a weekend of food, fires, and music at Glen Tonche, near Shokan, NY, brought to you by LDBA & Joint Venture.

The setting for our getaway was built in 1928. Glen Tonche, the mountaintop estate, is steeped in rich history and music royalty. It is the home of Allaire Studios, where David Bowie and Grizzly Bear recorded, among others. It is a stunning 18,000-square foot compound that can be reached only by private switchback road.

We invite you for a 24-hour stay. We will provide transportation from Brooklyn on Saturday, April 22nd. After drinks and snacks, we will take you on a tour of the property and check you into your individual rooms. There will be plenty of time to explore the hiking trails, enjoy a cocktail or two, mingle, or relax on the grounds or in your room until dinner. Dinner, cooked over the fire, will be served in the Neve Hall  (Bowie’s favorite room and where he made his music). There will be musical entertainment, a lovely outdoor fire after dinner, and wine and cocktails all night.
We will serve a light breakfast and coffee on Sunday and, eventually, head back to Brooklyn.
