Indigo Workshop:

OUR FAVORITE DYE TECHNIQUE! ALL NATURAL Mini shibori workshop. Bring your white or light colored clothing and dye it blue the way it’s been done for centuries! Isa Rodrigues is a founder of the Textile Arts Center who loves dying things blue. Using an Indigo/fructose and Pickling Lime bath, you will learn how to prepare the recipe from scratch in your own home. Also we will learn the history, technique, and benefits of Indigo dye. Some shibori and boro basics will be covered, including stitching, clamping, pole wrapping, and repeat dying. Class time: 2.5 hours.

Natural Bundle Dye and Easter Egg Painting Workshop:

About the Class: NATURAL BUNDLE DYEING WITH HEALING FLOWERS:
In this extensive, 3 hour workshop, you will learn how to dye with frozen fresh and dried flowers to create a breathtaking masterpiece.
In class we will learn how to treat garments to be able to take natural dyes, extract color from flowers and natural dye stuffs while experimenting with advanced tie dye techniques you can all do at home! Through only a little steam you will learn to transmute frozen dahlia, rose and cosmos into beautiful patterns, on your fabric.
Cara Piazza is a Natural Dyer and Textile Designer living and producing her work in New York City. She creates one of a kind textiles only using natural dye stuffs such as botanicals, plant matter, minerals, non-toxic metals and food wastes. She treats her fabrics through alchemical dye sessions, ancient shibori techniques and bundle dyeing, transforming each textile into its very own story.

LDBA Farm Camp 2016:

DATE: JULY 18-22, 2016
Ages: 7-12 (Mature 6yr.olds will be considered. Children must be able to sleep away from parents for 5 nights.)
Location: Mark Firth’s Farm, near Great Barrington, MA
Price for the week: $1500.00 (Price includes all food, water, tents, classes, art supplies and transportation including to and from camp, pick up/drop off in Williamsburg).

Sign your kiddo up for a camping experience they will never forget! LDBA is pleased to announce registration is open for the 4th annual Farm Camp! For five days and nights your child will learn invaluable skills such as how to pitch their own tents, how to build and manage shelters and fires safely, how to make arrows, tie knots, identify plants, mushrooms and trees, how to milk cows, feed and care for chickens, pigs, sheep and goats. We will learn about bees, gardens, pottery, foraging, and so much more. Daily art classes will be held and visiting artists will teach special workshops. Food will come from surrounding farms and is cooked by professional chefs, as well as food from Prairie Whale, Mark and Bettina’s restaurant in Great Barrington! We will visit farms in the area, but the main farm school will be on the Firth Farm. Kids will sleep in canvas tents, hike in the great outdoors, swim, fish, play soccer, hone their skills and enjoy the great outdoors. We have 6 core councilors (cpr certified) who will be there day and night, and many visiting artists and teachers- we also have a tipi!
Parents are welcome on the final night, ( Friday, July 22nd), to come join us for dinner and a sleep over- (parent transport and camping supplies not included)-
